What can be done about littering on private property?
If you are regularly experiencing the littering of empty alcohol bottles, cans and broken glass on your private property the following steps may help to resolve the problem.
Step 1:
If you are aware of who is responsible for littering on your private property, try to resolve the problem amicably by talking it over with them.
Step 2:
If you are uncomfortable in approaching the person/s responsible or unsuccessful in your attempt to resolve the problem, you can contact your local government and notify them of the situation. Littering is considered an offence. Rangers can take appropriate action against offenders and may issue fines of up to $200 for littering.
